Ladies Love R&B

Updated: Apr 24

There’s something about those classic R&B hits that keep us coming back year after year. Something about those songs that no matter where you are when you hear them, you must sing along. R&B has a certain vibe to it that can be difficult to put into words but one thing about it, Ladies really do love R&B. Ladies Love R&B is also the name of a weekly party started by producer Bryan-Michael Cox and Keith Thomas (Keefthabeef). They call themselves “The Not Promoters” and that makes sense because this party truly promotes itself.

Every Wednesday at Red Martini in Atlanta, R&B lovers come together to enjoy a night full of R&B hits from the 90’s to now. I’ve had the pleasure of attending once and I can attest that the vibes are unmatched. I truly enjoyed every minute of this party and I would absolutely go again. The vibes were very mature and I didn’t feel overwhelmed. You can dress up or keep it casual, that’s up to you. The entire night I was singing along to all the songs because I knew every single one. The team also includes host BT (youknowbt), an Atlanta radio personality, as well as DJ Bluetooth and Mix Master David bring the hits back to back. You can hear them playing some classics from Mary J. Blige, 702, Ne-Yo, and of course Usher. The party has done so well that Ladies Love R&B is now bringing the vibes to Houston every Friday night, as well as the after party for Usher’s My Way Residency in Las Vegas. DJ Bluetooth provides the hits for ATL/Houston while Mix Master David brings the vibes for the residency after party in Vegas. The Vegas after party is hosted at On The Record-a speakeasy/club located right across from Dolby Live where Usher performs his residency. (Check out a behind the scenes tour here)

There might be a million R&B parties out there but there’s nothing like going to one that is founded by a true artisan in the R&B game. Bryan-Michael Cox has produced/written songs like “Be Without You”- Mary J. Blige, Come Over- Aaliyah, Don’t Mess With My Man- Nivea, U Got It Bad- Usher, the list goes on. That’s what makes this party unique, it’s curated to perfection to ensure that party-goers have a good time listening to all the best R&B hits. All of the individuals involved truly make a great team.

If you plan on checking it out for yourself, I highly recommend planning ahead, because this party sells out every week. If you’re lucky, you might find a celebrity or two in attendance. Ne-Yo, Keri Hilson, Bow Wow, Usher, and Jacob Latimore are just a few of the celebrities that have been to a Ladies Love R&B party so you never know who you might see.

If you find yourself in Atlanta on a Wednesday night, Houston on a Friday night, or Vegas after one of Usher’s residency shows, be sure to check out Ladies Love R&B, and have a great time!
